In life, you will encounter all sorts of crazy. From situations to people, crazy can manifest into most negative ways. But how in these times and interactions, how does one keep the positivity in life? Here's how I try to bring a little bit of sunshine in my day in even the rainiest times.
- Your friends and family are your backbone. I come from a Tyler-Perry-esque family that tends to throw more shade and drama than the housewives, but no matter what, our little group tries to constantly support each other. So many times I have called my mom to vent and she has most of the time told me "Is this issue going to be important five minutes from now? Hours? Days? Weeks? (You get my drift)". I included friends with this as friend groups tend to be the pseudo-family, the family away from home. They comfort you, support you, guide you, and do so much when your family can't necessarily step in. So choose your friends wisely and keep ties with family!
- Have all your shit done. Want to cry all day, but wait... that eight page paper is due at 11:58 Friday night? Do the work. Having your work and chores and what not done brings a sort of organization to your life that will withstand those "Imma cry cause I want to" days. Get your bawling on... after you finish your to do list.
- Have a personal thing or day. Whenever I feel sad or upset, I focus my attention on myself. This helps with not relying on others to make you feel happy. You must first be happy with yourself before you look to others for happiness. For me, happiness is splurging a little on myself or doing an activity that makes me happy. I go sun bathe (the warmth melts negativity away) cause it feels good. Sometimes I go get that expensive food dish, cause I love eating different foods. It's all up to you, but do what makes you happy.
- Get rid of dead weight. Get rid of those "friends" who are petty and who have hatred in their hearts. I learned that once you realize someone isn't supporting you like you support them, you got to let them go. When someone constantly jabs at you and shades you (not in a friendly way), time to let them go, cause they are not your friend. This also applies to your living space! A clean and organized life is a happy life where you can easily find everything. Get rid of stuff you don't and or haven't used.
