The Top Basic Tech To Have

In this day and age, new shiny gadgets and tools are created and reinvented every day.  To be "hip" and caught up with the times, here are the top five tech inventions that I advise every modern person should have:

  1. Smart Phone - Honestly should not have to mention this, but everyone should get a smart phone. Even if it is a low-tech kind of smart phone, it is much better than the ancient flip phone. If you think having a smart phone is dumb, you need Jesus. The big downside to having a smart phone is that it will become a necessity in your life if it is already not.
  2. Personal Printer - I learned this the hard way after leaving a lot of my beloved machines in my dorm for the winter break. Having an at home or an at office printer cuts down the costs of gas, time, and money going to your nearby printing shop. The one downside to this is that it is imperative to keep up the maintenance on the printer and ink prices can go well into $30 per ink cartridge.
  3. Coffee/Tea Maker - An odd ball on this list, a coffee maker is the new way to go for dorms and office spaces. In my time in college with my Keurig, I've used it from making easy noodles to using the scalding water for disinfecting various objects. Even if you're not a coffee person, you can use the maker to make teas and other drinks, hot and cold. One downside is that you have to clean the system out monthly or weekly, depending on heavily it is used.
  4. High-Quality Speakers - When I say "High-Quality", I mean it. These are great for that solo jam in your room and for that sought after ambiance for a dinner party. Low-quality speakers tend to butcher and ruin a song's composition, messing with the bass or even the vocals designed for the song. The downside to this is that high-quality speakers tend to go for a very, and I mean VERY pretty penny.
  5. Internet - If you're reading this right now, you have Internet in some way, shape, or form. Go you! The major downside is that internet aids procrastination, so if you have some big task or project to do, go do it first. The internet will be here when you get done.
